Lights in the Night
This year at Montana Mule Days we did something different and fun!
All the donkey owners got together and had a light parade on Saturday evening. We dressed all our donkeys up in fancy lights, colorful lights, flashing lights, glow lights and pretty much whatever kind of lights we could find. Then we paraded around the mule days grounds showing off our lovely donkeys. Some of us were riding our donkeys, others were leading their donkeys, and there were also several miniature donkeys pulling carts decorated in strands of lights and in one case, a generator to power them.
The donkeys actually did very well. We were walking around the grounds at dusk, crossing through mud and puddles from the day's rain storms. Many of these donkeys had never had lights all over them before, much less followed a goofy looking band of lighted donkeys. LOL. But they were all great sports about it and we had a fun time.
Here are a few photos that Julie Davis sent me of a couple of the festive donkeys.
Next year we plan to have another donkey light parade at Montana Mule Days, so come bring your donkeys and lights, and join the fun! The theme for 2007 is "Donkeys, Dogs, and Ding-A-Lings", so bells, decorated dogs on leashes and kids are encouraged to participate as well. We want to see you there!
