Attention Mule History Buffs!

If you love mule history and stories from days gone by, this is a "must have" for your collection!

MulesOnSnowshoes01.jpg I just finished watching Video Mike's new video entitled "Mules on Snowshoes". It is a captivating film documenting the story of a group of mule packers in the mountains of northern California in the 1800s.

The hour-and-a-half long film is packed with fascinating stories, mule packer humor, and enthralling photos of old time master mule packers and their dependable pack mules. Enjoy the scenic views and marvel at the feats these mules and their packers accomplished. Soak in the thrill of what these brave and hard working teams did day-in and day-out, through rain or shine (and sometimes through enormous snow drifts) as they transported the mail, other freight, building supplies, and many other unusual cargos through the mountains in a time before there were modern conveniences like trucks, phones and the Internet.

If you love history and hearing tales from the past about how the old time mule men used to work and live, you won't want to miss this video!

And incase you are wondering, yes, they really did put snowshoes on the mules - mule snowshoes!

You Can Lead a Donkey to Water...

... but you can't make him drink.

Here is a fun class for the kids at Montana Mule Days.

This class is called Youth Lead Your Donkey to Water. In this class the handler leads the donkey to a bucket of water and tosses and handful of water in the air to signal the end of time.

Here are some videos of two of my donkeys competing in this class at Montana Mule Days 2006. It had rained most of the day before and all night, so the arena was really muddy with puddles and ponds in between the just-muddy spots.

Lily was a really good girl in this class. She took 2nd place. Lily's Video

Andy was cooperative, but decided to stop and do the "I'm waiting for you to move forward..." game on the way to the water bucket. Andy and his handler both stopped in the middle, and looked at each other like "So are you going to move first?" LOL. Once his handler stepped out ahead of him, Andy was more than happy to follow along. LOL. Andy's Video
