Delicious Delicacies
It's that time of year when harvest is in the air and all things good are ripening on the vine!
Here are a couple harvest time treats that your longeared buddies will enjoy!
Watermelon Wonder!
As you can see this donkey is all ready to scoop up the delicious goodness of our left over fresh watermelon rinds. Just set them out in a clean place in your pasture, and let the donkeys enjoy the treat.
Amazing Apples
I don't think I've ever met a mule or donkey that didn't like apples. And the best ones are the ripe ones fresh picked off the tree. Just don't let him have so many at one time that he gets a belly ache, so be careful about giving him free, unsupervised access to the apple tree.
Scrumptious Citrus
My donkeys also love the juicy goodness of fresh cut oranges. Just slice an orange into quarters, and offer them one at a time to your longeared friends.
Before feeding your mule or donkey a new kind of food, it's always good to check and make sure that it's edible for equines. And always feed fresh treats - not spoiled or aged produce. You wouldn't want to make your longeared buddy sick!
